The task and requirements

With an increasing number of aging oil wells and shrinking oil reserves it becomes increasingly viable and important to maintain wells and extract the maximum amount of product. The requirement was to develop as a state of the art well intervention and diving support vessel (DSV), the 715 is suited for the North Sea as well as worldwide operation.  The vessel is based on the Merwede Type-22 design, which makes it a cost-effective vessel of high performance and quality.

The concept

IHC Merwede adapted the Merwede Type-22 design to accommodate a multipurpose tower, an 18 person twin bell saturated diving system and a twin work class ROV system. She has potential for upgrading with coiled tubing and a flare boom.

Innovative solutions

The DP3 dynamic positioning system and 3 engine rooms and propulsion systems provide triple redundancy and give the vessel an enormous reliability. An innovative multipurpose tower next to the work moonpool offers flexible hoisting capacity while maintaining efficient use of deck space. The safety and security during intervention work is guaranteed by a gas closure system using overpressure to protect the vessel’s accommodation. The twin ROV system is integrated into the ship’s design.
