IHC Merwede datasheet YN-716.pdf
With a growing demand for larger offshore projects, larger vessels with higher capacity for heavy lift operations are required. Furthermore, various operations take place in deeper water around the world requiring the vessel to be able to transit at higher speeds. The 716 combines excellent quality with properties that allow her to perform demanding offshore operations.
A unique feature of the vessel will be an innovative hull shape (patent pending), which will enable her to have a transit speed of 14 knots, combined with exceptional working characteristics for a monohull design. This combination will contribute to a further successful execution of projects. Lift heights of 100 m for the 5,000 mt main hook and 132 m for the 800 mt auxiliary hook enable the vessel to undertake an impressive range of projects from dual hook upending of large jackets to heavy mudule installations. The installed DP3 system enables the vessel to be employed for the installation of large and heavy subsea structures, TLP/Spar foundations and topsides, while an anchor spread system enables YN-716 to maintain its position with high accuracy in shallow waters. The concept was developed by Gusto MSC together with the client.
The 716 has a specific innovative patented hull form designed for dual draught. On sailing draught the vessel has a beam of 37.6 meter substantially reducing the power required for achieving the transit speed and providing a comfortable platform with respect to sea keeping and motions. For high load hoisting operations the vessel is ballasted due to which the 47 meter wide upper part of the hull becomes submerged providing a very stable platform. The vessel offers accommodation for up to 400 persons. The vessel design has been prepared to accommodate a future pipelaying street giving her a second role in case of a dip in the heavy lift market.
