Royal Clipper came into a league of its own as the world's largest commercial windjammer when delivered to Star Clipper Cruises of Monaco in July 2000. Inspired by the famed Preussen, the largest sail-powered commercial cargo vessel ever, which sailed the high seas at the beginning of the 20th century, the Royal Clipper represents the pinnacle of luxury accommodation for a fortunate 228 cruise passengers on the first full-rigged, five-mast tall ship to be built since. Any attempt to describe the accommodation, with its piano lounge, dining-rooms, public rooms, bars, library, glass bottomed swimming pool above the atrium, underwater viewing portholes, extendable marina platform, cabins with private balconies etc., could not even begin to do justice to this exciting 133 m long tall ship, capable of speeds of up to 18 knots under 5,000 m2 of billowing canvas. Royal Clipper is a living memorial to those famous windjammers from another era.
